In the several years I’ve been following seniors through Meet the Class, I’ve never been as anxious and excited to hear back from them as I am right now. I haven’t met any of these students in person, but I’ve really come to like them over the past eight months. So I’m relieved to hear from Katie, who was able to make a campus tour before everything closed down, and is making use of her extended time to make her final decision. Read the full interview below.
Meet the Class gets updated each month from September to May. Each installment features an interview about both the facts and the feelings of where the student is in the process.

Katie ATTENDS A Private Christian HIGH SCHOOL IN Ohio
How are you doing? Are you and your family well? How badly is the stay-at-home affecting you right now? Is college this fall still your plan, or have things changed too drastically?
I am doing well enough. Sickness has been taking its rounds in my family. It is not the best being home so much, but I have been so busy working from home and taking classes. It has really not affected me that much. I am still planning on attending a school in the fall, just haven't made my decision yet.
Update: You say your family has been sick. Just to clarify—not with Covid-19 I hope?
It's not very clear what it is. Testing is near impossible to get here. I haven't shown all the symptoms but others in my family have.
You were planning on a visit to North Dakota State. Did that happen? Have you done any "virtual tours" or visits? Last month you felt like it was your best option by far—is that still the case?
Yes it did happen. It was the last weekend before it got crazy everywhere, so I was still able to have a cross country flight. I still feel like it is my best option, and it was a really great day. I have not had a virtual tour yet.
North Dakota State has moved its reply date from May 1 to June 1. Does that help you, or do you still plan to have a decision by the end of this month?
It has really helped me, and I have no intention of having a decision on May 1. I am very glad to have it.
How is school going right now? Are you doing at-home assignments? Live meetings, through Zoom or something like that? How well is your high school handling the chaos?
School has been decent. For my high school classes, I have homework with no lectures or anything. For my college classes, I have pre-recorded videos uploaded on my normal class days. I don't love having my classes online, but it could be worse.
